My Review

Love has a different definition for the entire individuals inhabiting this planet. For some it is the savior; while for others it is the destroyer, for some it is a new start while for others it is the end and similarly for some it abandons while for others it rescues. This story is about a couple, which falls into this category of the love birds, who are rescued by love!

The story starts with a glimpse of helpless condition of a girl in hostage. She is recollecting her recent past wherein she was protesting marriage against her will. She thinks of way to flee away from her family for a while so that they may reconsider her opinions only to land here on the mercy of some kidnappers, who plan to negotiate her life with her father in lieu of one of their fellow terrorists – Hussain. He is on trial in his father’s court and has all the probability of being sentenced after four days and hence this plot layout. She knows what her father will choose between his daughter and his principles! Any guess?

On the other hand, the terrorists are confident enough that they have made apt arrangements for securing their leader by picking up a deal with the Chief Justice and trading ‘a life against another life’. What will they pick – one that they wish i.e. freedom of Hussain or one that they have captured to trade i.e. Naina? Continue guessing!

On a parallel note, we attend a confidential meeting with his father and army officials, who are given the responsibility of rescuing her daughter from the clench of terrorists. He has made up his mind to speak out his verdict against Hussain and they have made their minds to bring his daughter back home, safely with a mutual agreement sealed with his statement – “Hussain is going to be sentenced to death four days from now. That is in my hands. Whether my daughter is sentenced to the same fate or not is in yours’. Only he knows what he will choose between being a sensible government or being a responsible father? Do you wish to guess?

Treading deep into the valley to the location, where she is made hostage, the Lieutenant on duty is working on taking her back home with all caution, care and safety along with his troop members and her charm of mesmerizing beauty and a strongly magnetic attitude. What does he choose between his duty and his love? Will he deceive the call of duty for securing love or will his love bar him from following the call? Before you find out what he does or say, made to do amongst the options available at disposable, I suggest, you to make your guess!

Mills & Boons is fascinating me more and more as I am reading more from the lot. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. Primarily, because, I am myself very much inclined towards the men in uniform J And, with a narrator like Shipla Suraj and a strong story with a convincing plot, I couldn’t ask for more in this platter!

While reading, you will enjoy the seriousness of the situation as she has depicted, the dilemma, which the characters go through, the panic that the characters face and the venom that her family spits on her face. Yes, families of such a kind do exist and surprisingly, on the superior strata of the society. I appreciate her selection of straightaway landing into the rescue scene with the main hero and the heroine, cutting through the scrap and filling pages with unnecessary fights and encounter with the terrorists. Though, I personally, found the ending to be somewhat dramatic but if this belongs to a Mills and Boon romantic genre; it has to be meant this way only. As the scenes change the aura she creates with her words changes. The transformation of the theme from a mission to the marriage is smooth, relatable, understanding, gripping yet entertaining. The character traits were intense, be it professional commitments, familial bonds or nurturing love, all have been taken care off with sensibility.

The Blurb

When Naina Ahuja is kidnapped as hostage days before her father, a Supreme Court Chief Justice, must sentence a terrorist, the stakes are very high. Lt Col Arjun Rathore and his team are the only ones who can be trusted with the mission of saving her.

During their arduous trek back through the hostile terrain of Ladakh, Arjun and Naina spend days in danger of losing their lives – and their hearts. Back in safety, the real world and its very real problems threaten – as do their own perceptions of the differences between them.

They must separate – but will life rescue their love?

Meet the Author

Shilpa was a year and a half when she was first introduced to the world of books. Her mother would park her with a picture book on the floor of the kitchen while she finished her cooking for the day. While it’s no longer the kitchen floor, you can still find her tucked away in a cosy nook somewhere with her nose buried in a book. While books in all genres interest her, it was romance that captured her heart. While racing through every romantic fiction book she could beg, borrow or buy, her over active imagination started to work overtime and weave its own stories. Years in the corporate world followed by a stint of entrepreneurship crystallised her belief that all she really wanted to do was give life to the stories bubbling inside of her. She briefly managed to tear herself away from the world of fiction to find her own personal happily ever after and now spends her time happily focusing on the two loves of her life – family and writing romances.
